Certificate in Legal Principles of Law Enforcement
The ever-increasing crime rate, changing social order, changes in the criminal laws and major court decisions are all factors that have made the law enforcement officer’s role of extreme importance and increasingly complex in modern society. The Certificate in Legal Principles of Law Enforcement focuses on aspects of the American legal system from an historical and practical perspective concentrating on those areas with which criminal justice professionals come in contact. This program is designed to give students a solid grounding in the theoretical and practical implications of contemporary debates over the rule and implementation of law. Students examine legal ideas and institutions as well as the central role of law in social, political, and economic systems.

This certificate is awarded to students who complete the required courses with an accumulated grade point average of 2.0 or higher. Andrew Jackson University coursework completed to meet the requirements of a previously-awarded certificate may be applied toward this certificate. No more than 50% of the certificate program can be earned through transfer credit or credit-by-examination. Credit awarded for experiential learning is not applicable to a certificate program.
